Emma Chaffee

A Celebration of Life for Emma Chaffee, 70, of Bridgeport, Texas, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Doctor Bill Hughes will officiate.

Emma was born July 14, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Gene and Dorothy (Humes) Manning. She married Jeff Chaffee July 4, 1984, in Emory, Texas, and was happily married for 40 years.

Emma's life was colored with remarkable diversity in her career. She was a certified peace officer and guard at the Bridgeport Correctional Center, executive secretary for Metropolitan Glass, and truck driver with her husband Jeff. Her commitment to her various roles spoke volumes about her work ethic and passion.

Outside of her professional careers, Emma found joy in various hobbies and interests. She was a regular attendee of the Community Church in Decatur and had a passion for helping others (especially neighbors and family). She was known for her kind and caring nature, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.  In addition, she was widely known for her culinary talents, being an excellent cook who delighted friends and family with her delicious food. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will be deeply missed by her surviving family and friends.

Those left to cherish Emma’s memory are her husband Jeff Chaffee of Bridgeport, Texas; son David Miller and wife Janice of Delta, Alaska; daughter Tiffany Ray and partner Gordon Trueblood of Rockwall, Texas; brother Randy Manning of Decatur, Texas; sisters Melinda Axtell and husband Phil of McLoud, Oklahoma, and Melanie Dsouza and husband Raul of Killeen, Texas; five grandchildren Scott, Wesley, Travis, Ricky, and Jessica; three great-grandchildren Ava, Brody, and Parker; her beloved yorkie Toodles; and numerous extended family and friends that were like family.

Emma is preceded in death by her parents and brother Mike Manning.
