Elisha Shellnut

Elisha Andrew "Bill" Shellnut, Jr., 81, of Bridgeport, Texas passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012, in Bridgeport. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 28, 2012, in the Chapel at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Reverend Carroll Smith and Reverend Gary Sessions will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, August 27, 2012, at the funeral home. Bill was born September 8, 1930, in Baldwyn, Mississippi, to Hattie May (Cochran) and Elisha Andrew Shellnut. He married Mary Belle Gregg on January 2, 1982, and they had thirty years together. Bill was a school teacher who also worked for the IRS. He became a Christian at an early age and was a spirit-filled member of Lakeside Church of God. He loved to travel and loved his family and church. He served his country in the Navy. Bill is survived by his wife; sons Elisha A. Shellnut III and wife Ruth of Boulder, Colorado, and Randy Dunn and wife Yvonne of Bridgeport; daughter Becky Taylor of Bridgeport; brother Tom Shellnut and wife Sandra of Pass Christian, Mississippi; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
