Clyde Edward (Ed) Spain, 70, of Decatur went home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2016, in Fort Worth, Texas. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 10:00 AM at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Decatur. The family will receive visitors on Monday, June 20, from 6 – 8 PM in the chapel at Chancellor and Jones Family Funeral Home.
Ed was a member of Rock Island Family Church in Boyd, a previous dairy farmer who then enjoyed farming after the dairy business. In recent years, he became a licensed process server getting to work with daughter, Mary Lois, and many other local attorneys. Ed was also a football official and member of Fort Worth Football Officials Association for 22 years. He served as a crew chief and referee and loved every part of this job. His favorite hobbies included riding horses, playing with grandkids, and spending time with his wife of 48 years. Ed’s favorite celebration was the annual 4th of July bash at the Spain Farm where family and his church attended. As a godly, loving, father and husband, he prayed daily for his family and loved each one dearly.
Ed was born to Clyde and Mavis Hammon Spain on March 1, 1946. He is survived by his parents; wife, Vicki Lasater Spain; sons, Russell Spain, Stephen Spain and wife Kelly; daughters, Shanda Dame and husband Craig, Mary Lois Sipes and husband Joe, Jessica Jackson and husband Blake; grandchildren, Jordan Spain, Parker Dame, Preston Dame, Luke Sipes, and Gabriel Spain; one great grandchild, Jonathan Hendrix; brothers, Glen Spain and wife Phylis, Curtis Spain and wife Sharolyn; numerous cousins, other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Clyde and Christine Spain and Dan and Avis Hammon.
