Dorothy Parsons

Billie Dorothy Parsons, 86, of Alvord, Texas passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in the chapel at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Texas. Burial will be at Paradise Cemetery. Brother Gary Demmitt will officiate. Pallbearers will be Dustin Anglin, Joe Webb, Gary Pittman, Justin Hamilton, and Richard Kenyon. Honorary pallbearers are Gerald Shawn, Billy Shawn and Michael Parsons. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM, Monday, November 9, 2015 at the funeral home. Dorothy was born on June 22, 1929 in Bridgeport to Marie Melvina (Kaker ) and William Aulsie Holt. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with all of her family, going on camping trips and attending her grandchildren’s birthday parties. She also enjoyed word search puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, playing dominoes, walking into town to run errands, and talking and visiting with everyone she met. She is survived by daughters Melba Stutt of Alvord, Lois Pittman and husband Gary of Longview, Texas, Mildred Anglin and her husband Jeff of Chaffee, Missouri; son Michael Parsons of Bridgeport; sisters Irene Murphy and husband Johnny of Joshua, Texas and Nellie Clark and husband David of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; 22 great –grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband James of 42 years, daughter Nelda Shawn, two brothers and two sisters.
