Doris Watson

Doris Watson, 91, of Decatur, Texas, beloved wife, mother and “Nanny,” went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at The Hills Nursing Home in Decatur. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in the Chapel at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Texas. Burial will follow in East Bridgeport Cemetery. Ernie Patterson will officiate. Pallbearers are Jack Meeks, Robbie Meeks, Ronny Reed, Arly Watson, Terry Watson, and Cary Watson. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the funeral home. Doris was born January 8, 1925 in Trent, Texas to Eula Floy (Cordell) and Lee Roy Meeks. She married Jessie (A.J.) Watson November 19, 1941 in Brownsville, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2007. She is survived by one son Wayne Watson and wife Fern of Denison, Texas; three daughters Cheryl Tackett and husband Coy of Bridgeport, Karen Brady of Denton, Texas, and Darla Strickland and husband Rick of Bridgeport; twelve grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Joy Meeks and Nettie Mae Watson. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessie Sharon; a granddaughter, Tracy McKee; three brothers, Robert William (R.W.) Meeks, Leroy Meeks, and Marvin (Buster) Meeks; and one sister, Bertie Franklin.
