Doris "Jean" Stutt

Funeral services for Doris “Jean” Stutt, 96, of Paradise, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Cates Street Church of Christ in Bridgeport with burial to follow at Paradise Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2025, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Pallbearers will include Nathan Byers, Joey Pitts, Chris Stutt, Jim Taylor, Jim Graham, and Richard Stothers.

Doris “Jean” (Dewbre) Stutt was born February 21, 1928, in Ringling, Oklahoma, to John and Velma (Smith) Dewbre, and peacefully passed away on February 8, 2025, in Decatur, Texas. She married William James “Jimmy” Stutt on November 25, 1950, and was happily married for 50 years, until his passing.

Jean lived a fulfilling life and found joy in many activities. She had a love for yard work, creating beautiful flower gardens and crafting lovely floral arrangements. Jean also enjoyed collecting old knick-knacks and spent countless hours reading her Bible. She will be greatly missed but her love for life and the beauty she created around her will always be remembered.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Charlie Margaret Stutt; brother, Billy Wayne Dewbre; sister, Peggy Alice Dewbre; grandson, Michael Eric Stutt; sister-in-law, Melinda K. Dewbre; and a host of friends.

Doris is preceded in death by her husband, William James “Jimmy” Stutt; parents, John and Velma Dewbre; sister, Betty John; brother, Glen Douglas Dewbre; and brother-in-law, Hubert Girdwood Tank Spivey.
