Funeral services for Dennis Ray “Bubba” Elam, 79, of Azle, will be Wednesday, July 14, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Azle, Texas with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Springtown Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Lee Sipe and Keith Day. Pall bearers are Jimmy Hamblin, Steven Bolin, Scott Bolin, Blake Bolin, Hunter Garcia, Fischer Bolin, Toby Hamblin and Tyler Hamblin. He passed away July 8, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Dennis was born to Boodle Elam and Loma Gene Doyle Elam on April 29, 1942 in Agnes, Texas. After high school, he proudly served his country in the Army. He was a charter member of VFW Post 2137 and ex-commander of that post. Dennis was self-employed and worked as a landscaper before he retired. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Azle. His hobbies included fishing, playing poker, going to Winstar, going to garage sales, coin collecting, and doing it all without spending a dollar.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Frankie Elam; daughters, Lavonda Hamblin & husband James of Bridgeport, Frankie Bolin & husband Larry of Rhome; son, Ellis ‘Scooter’ McDaniel of Azle; brothers, Curtis Elam & wife Pat of Azle, Ricky Elam of Azle; grandchildren, Shelly Dorsey, Jimmy Hamblin, Steven Bolin, Blake Bolin, Scott Bolin, Jamie Ottinger, and Jeremy McDaniel; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren plus baby Garcia on the way; numerous other family members and a host of friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Lanetta McDaniel Johnson.
