It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Debra McKibben, a cherished soul who graced our lives with her kindness and vivacity. Born on January 28, 1959, in Slaton, Texas, Debra filled her years with joy and love, ultimately leaving this world peacefully at her residence in Bridgeport, Texas, surrounded by her beloved family on January 1, 2025. A private memorial gathering will be scheduled for a later date.
Debra's spirit was as vibrant as the flowers she tended to in her garden, a passion she nurtured with great affection. Her love for cooking infused every family gathering with warmth and flavor, creating cherished memories over shared meals and laughter. Whether it was dancing to her favorite tunes or simply listening to music that stirred her soul, Debra celebrated life in every moment.
She was a devoted mother to her daughters: Cynthia Teter, Rachel Bissell, and Summer McKibben, each of whom carries a piece of her heart within them. Debra treasured her role as a grandmother, providing love and guidance to Cassidy McKibben, Rees Teter, Colton Teter, Rowdy Throckmorton, Tuff Throckmorton, Tyler McKibben, Jayden McKibben, and Makenzi Bissell.
Furthermore, she delighted in the joy of three great-grandchildren, witnessing their adventures with pride and adoration.
In her absence, Debra’s legacy is illuminated by her loving mother, Myrtle Grizzle, and her brother, Jerry Belcher, who will carry forth her memory and spirit.
Debra's life was also marked by the sorrow of loss, having been preceded in death by her father, Jim Ed Stuart; her stepfather, Roy Belcher; brothers William and Jimmy Stuart; and her beloved son, Johnathan McKibben. Their memory will forever remain intertwined with hers, reminding us of the strength found in family bonds, both seen and unseen.
As we remember Debra McKibben, let us celebrate the gift of her life, the beauty she brought into this world, and the indelible marks she has left on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. She will be dearly missed but will live on through the love she so generously shared.
