David Earl Fowler was born on June 17, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Edgar and Margarete (Newby) Fowler and peacefully passed away on May 2, 2024, in Decatur, Texas. He was a dedicated individual who proudly served in the US Army from 1961 to 1964. His commitment to his country was unwavering and greatly appreciated.
David cherished his family above all else and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He married Margaret Rebecca Westmoreland on June 10, 1966, in Fort Worth, Texas, and was happily married for over 57 years.
David's memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and kindness that will continue to inspire generations to come.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Fowler of Decatur; son David Allen Fowler of Decatur; daughter Donna Deanne Fowler Ruddick of Alvord; brother Billy Paul Fowler of Decatur; sister-in-law Jeanette Vasquez and husband Victor of Fort Worth; grandchildren Brittany Foster of Denton, Cassie Skinner of Chico, Sarah Beck of Roanoke, and Cheyenne Fennell of Alvord; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Margarete Fowler of Fort Worth; sister Sally Woodward of Fort Worth; father-in-law Bascum Westmoreland of Fort Worth; mother-in-law Sylvia Northrop of Fort Worth; and brother-in-law Royce Glen Awtry of Red Oak.
