Darlene Shelby Alexander

Funeral services for Darlene Shelby Alexander, 77, of Chico, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024, at U-Turn World Ministries in Chico, Texas, with burial to follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery #3 in Chico. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 14, one hour prior to the service, at the church. Pastors Kevin Alexander and Ronnie Shelby will officiate.

Pallbearers will include Derek Shelby, Jacobi Verdin, Brandon Alexander, Cameron Hurd, Hunter Palmer, and Sean McEachern.

Darlene Shelby Alexander was born on April 8, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, to Bob and Dovie (Crocker) Allen, and went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 10, 2024, in Bowie, Texas.

Darlene was known for her joyful spirit and love for life. She cherished the holiday season, especially celebrating Christmas with friends and family. Additionally, her passion for shopping and fashion was evident in her keen sense of style.

Notably, Darlene had a unique love for Blue Bell ice cream, always enjoying it with a fork, a quirk that made those around her smile.

Darlene's bright spirit and joyful laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish Darlene’s memory are her sons, Ronnie Shelby and wife Shemane, and Kevin Alexander and wife Clover; sister Marilyn; grandchildren, Derek Shelby, Jordan Shelby, Bailee Verdin, Bethany Hurd, and Brandon Alexander; great-grandchildren, Levi and Cannon Shelby, and Kaia and Sage Verdin; and a host of friends and family.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents Bob and Dovie Price.
