Graveside services for Claudia (Slagle) Lawson, 83, of Bridgeport, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2025, at Thomas Cemetery in Bridgeport. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 23, at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Pallbearers will include Jake Hardin, Matthew Wood, Gaylord Kennedy, Randy Kleam, Travis Provence, Ryan Murphy, Joe Smith, and Scott Graham.
Claudia (Slagle) Lawson, beloved homemaker and caregiver, peacefully passed away on February 16, 2025, in Decatur, Texas, at the age of 83. Born on June 5, 1941, in Paradise, Texas, to Claude and Mary Katherine (Smith) Slagle, Claudia spent her life nurturing others and creating a warm, loving home for her family and friends.
She was a proud graduate of Bridgeport High School and continued to be an active member in her community, attending the First Presbyterian Church of Bridgeport. Claudia found joy in playing golf and loved antiquing. These hobbies brought her happiness and fulfillment throughout her years. Later in life, she also enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers, embracing the thrill of the game.
Her kindness, compassion and dedication as a caregiver will be fondly remembered. Claudia’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, David Lawson and wife Kim; daughters, Diana Graham and Denae Johnson; brother, James J. (Corky) Smith; grandchildren, Matthew Wood, Cooper Lawson, Kailey Hardin, Morgan Graham, Cheyenne Crisp, Scott Graham, Chad Graham, Ashley Wester and Joliet Johnson; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
Claudia is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Mary Katherine Slagle; brother, William Slagle; and sister, Opal Sweet.
