Graveside services for Charles Buddy Edwards, 74, of Sunset, Texas will be 1:15 pm Monday, April 26, 2021 in the DFW National Cemetery He passed away at home Wednesday, March 24.
He was born December 26, 1946 in Waurika, Oklahoma to Othel Junior Edwards and wife Georgia Lee Coontz. Buddy married his wife of 44 years, Nancy Folger, on January 2, 1980.
Buddy served his country in the US Army for nine years during the Vietnam War in the Military Police.
After the war, he served as a police officer for four years and then settled in Montague County, Texas and worked as a truckdriver/teamdriver with his wife for 35 years, hauling cows, air freight, and computers across the country.
Buddy enjoyed the quiet country life and loved animals, raising chickens, pigs, horses and cows on his farm.
He was a devoted and loving father and husband. He was a good-hearted man and was always willing to help others in need.
Buddy’s hobbies included traveling, camping and fishing, spending time on the rifle range, and leatherwork.
But his passions were spoiling his Number 1 girl, Chica, and his grandchildren.
He leaves behind his wife Nancy Edwards of Sunset; children Dallas Bo Edwards of Huntsville, Texas, Sheila Marie Sawyer and husband Freddy of Dunn, North Carolina, and Rocky Lance Edwards of Sunset; sisters Dorothy Odom and Donna McKeon and husband Thomas, both of Springtown, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, and son Wesley Justin Edwards.
