Carl W. Flippin

Graveside services for Carl W. Flippin, 99, of Decatur, Texas will be 1:00 pm, Monday, January 21, 2019 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur, officiated by Pastor Gerre Joiner. Carl passed away Thursday, January 17 in Decatur.

Carl was born May 3, 1919 in Randlett, Oklahoma to Arrie and Frances (Bumgarner) Flippin. On  October 5, 1940 he married his wife Helen Schmelzla in Eufaula, Oklahoma. They were married over 50 years. He enjoyed working on his farm and gardening. Carl liked to stress the importance of college to his grandchildren and provide them with the opportunity to go. He worked with the Fort Worth Stock Show for over 50 years. Carl was also in the Army Air Force for 3 years.

He leaves behind his son Jerel Flippin and wife Ginger of Decatur; grandchildren Erin Maguth and husband Dennis of Fort Worth, Texas, Joshua Flippin of Sunset, Texas, and Mitchell Flippin and wife Stefanie of Evergreen, Colorado; two great-grandchildren Macie and Maddox Maguth.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse Helen Flippin, along with multiple siblings.
