Bodie Kirkland

"Bodie" Kenneth Boyd Kirkland, 50, of Cottondale, Texas passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012 in Decatur, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Cottondale Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cottondale Cemetery. Brother Charles Pugh and Josh Clark will officiate. Pallbearers are Hunter Watson, Jimmy Osborn, Byron Osborn, Chris Osborn, Billy Greenwood, and Jacob Mayberry. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kenneth Kirkland Foundation at First State Bank of Paradise, Texas. Bodie was born March 17, 1962, in Fort Worth, Texas to Doris Eulene and Kenneth R. Kirkland. He married Dianna Lynn Perkins on March 9, 1991, in Haltom City, Texas. He was a contractor for GTR Construction and a member of Cottondale Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, working on cars, and building things. He loved being with his family and friends. Bodie is survived by his wife Dianna; daughters Amber and Cassidy Kirkland; sisters Beverly Kirkland and Cindy Watson and husband Gary, all of Cottondale; and lifelong friend Robert Greenwood of Sunset, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents.
