Bobby Ray

Services for Robert Dwayne Ray of Chico were held at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, officiated by Joey Vick. Bobby died in Bridgeport Tuesday, December 18 at the age of 64, and was buried in Chico Cemetery. He was born May 26, 1948 in Martinez, California to William Hugh and Gladys Louise (Brown) Ray. Bobby moved to Texas in 1968. He married Barbara Bailey in June 1970. The couple later divorced, and in June 1979 he married Tammy Bank. He was employed by Gifford Hill for 33-1/2 years where he was a heavy equipment operator. He was the jack of all trades there. He trained all the first female euclid drivers, and was quite fond of all those 'crazy ladies'! He retired in January of 2009. His passion was riding his Harley and watching Nascar. He loved his family, his friends, his dog Daisy, and his Harley. He was quick with a joke, always ready to help anyone, and would give you his last dollar. He leaves behind children Melinda Kay (Cissy) Barrett, Charles Garman Ray, and Lacy Annette Ray; grandchild Hayley Nicole Barrett; and great-grandson Easton Lane Barrett. He was preceded in death by his father; his sisters Brenda Lee Gatlin and Belinda Louise Taylor; and grandsons Joshua Aaron Largent and Caleb Alexander Barrett.
