Billy Grundy

Billy Gene Grundy, 84, of Decatur, Texas passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 in Decatur. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in the Chapel at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Decatur. Dr. Bill Hughes will officiate. Pallbearers will be Craig Rawle, Thomas Rawle, Jordan Rawle, Shawn Grundy, Philip Grundy, Larry Moody, Jake Moody, and Johnny McDaniel. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, April 30, 2012 at Jones Family Funeral Home. Billy Gene was born December 12, 1927, in Decatur to Myrtle (Rosenburg) and Porter Grundy. He loved fishing, gambling, wrestling, and westerns. He worked over fifty years in wrecker services. He served his country in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife Renna Hudson Grundy; children Billie Rawle of Decatur, Eddy Grundy and wife Cindy of Decatur; Susan McDaniel and husband Johnny of Alvord, Robin Stapp and husband Frank of Chico, Larry Moody of Chico, Jake Moody of Bridgeport, and Linda Branscum and husband Ricky of Alvord; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sisters Martha Lindsey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mildred Cauthen of Decatur; Kay Davis of Slidell, Texas, and Alice Lawson of Runaway Bay, Texas; sister-in-law Margie Loyd of Decatur; and numerous nieces and nephews. Billy Gene is preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Virgil Loyd; sons Bobby Gene Grundy and Billy Escobedo; grandson Aden Stapp; great granddaughter Cheyanne West; brothers E. P. Grundy, Virgil (Sonny) Loyd, Jr., and J. T. Loyd; and sisters Melba Schroeder, Mary Lou McCandless, and Joy Broach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Decatur Fire Department.
