Bill Ray

Johnnie Wilson “Bill” Ray, 69, of Bridgeport passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in Bridgeport. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 29 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Bridgeport. Bill was born in Decatur, Texas May 22, 1946 to Woodrow Wilson and Johnie (Rickels) Ray. After high school graduation, Bill earned his BS degree from UTD, and spent his career as a banker and entrepreneur in commercial real estate. He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Laura (Lohnes) Matteson-Ray; sons Alan Ray and wife Margaret, and Evan Matteson and wife Virginia; daughter Melissa Wise and husband Leo; brother Dr. David Ray and wife Sue; sister Ilene (Ray) Enochs, and Becky (Ray) Elizondo and husband Phil; grandchildren Julia Lowrey, Amanda Ray, Chloe Hargrove, Guy Hargrove, Audree Matteson, Saylor Matteson, and Hadley Matteson; and numerous other family. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law Joe Enochs, nephew Walker Enochs, great-nephew Austin Enochs, and niece Tiffany Elizondo.
