William 'Bill' Senter Hamblin, Jr. 65, of Bridgeport died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at his home in Bridgeport. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 pm at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Services will be held at 10 am Saturday, June 15 also at Jones, officiated by Emilio Rodriguez, Jr. Burial will follow at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Pallbearers are James Rodriguez, Robert Rodriguez, James Hamblin, Jr., Nicholas Scarpinato, Bill Gasperson, Donovan Bradley, and honorary pallbearers Bob Gasperson, Joe Simecek, and Robert John Ward.
Bill was born January 2, 1948 in Wichita Falls, Texas to W.S. Hamblin, Sr. and Dorothy Jean (Jones) Hamblin. The family later moved to Bridgeport where Bill graduated. He spent one year at UT Arlington, and also served his country in the Marine Corps for 18 months; 16 of those months were spent in Vietnam. He earned several military honors.
He was a rural mail carrier and a member of the Rural Carrier Association and past president of the Local Unit. His hobbies included reading, fishing, beekeeping and spending time with family and friends. He also earned an award for being the greatest grandpa.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carmen (Escajeda) Hamblin; daughter Patricia and husband Jay Bridwell; sons William 'Will' Hamblin, III and wife Danielle (Bunge), and Paul S. Hamblin; brothers Robert, James, Terry, Larry and Mike Hamblin; sister Barbara (Hamblin) Scarpinato; and grandchildren Joshua Bridwell, Aiden and Dylan Hamblin.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Sebero and Aurora Escajeda, and beloved nephew Sam Rodriguez.
