Bessie Bell Watson

Bessie Bell Watson, 86, of Decatur passed away November 10, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. Service will be 10 am Friday November 17, 2017 in the Chapel at Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur with burial to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday November 16, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm at Jones Family Funeral Home in Decatur.

Bessie Bell was born April 10, 1931 in Hamburg, AR to Leslie J. and Bessie Serrett. She attended Hendrix College and then graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA with a major in Music Education and a minor in Piano and Organ. Bessie Bell married her beloved husband Randall on December 27, 1953 in Hamburg. She began her music career when she was 14 years old playing piano at the Methodist and Catholic Churches in Hamburg, AR. As the family moved about the country, she continued to find a place to serve the Lord with music. For the last 15 years she has been the pianist at Rhome United Methodist Church. As passionate as she was about music her children and family always came first. Bessie Bell was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Billy Serrett, John Leslie Serrett; sister, Louisa "Sis" Britton.

Bessie Bell is survived by her husband of 65 years, Randall Watson of Decatur; sons, David Watson of Galveston, Randy Watson of Decatur; daughter, Beth Addington and husband Paul of Decatur; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
