Alice Frances (Loyd) Lawson, 77, of Runaway Bay, Texas went to be with our Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2019. Graveside services will be 10 am Thursday, January 2 at Bethel Cemetery in Decatur, Texas, officiated by Dr. Bobby Cullen. Pallbearers are Scott Cantrell, Ernie Cantrell, Senior Airman Chandler Hughes, Garrett Darden, Ti Rainwater, and Matt Reed. Visitation will be 2-4 pm Wednesday, January 1 at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Alice was born October 5, 1942 to Virgil and Myrtle (Rosenberg) Loyd in Decatur. She was loved by everyone and the glue that held the family together, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was a loving wife and mother, a great cook, and would do anything for anyone at any time. She was a big fan of Elvis, George Jones and George Strait.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are husband Willard ‘Butch’ Lawson of Runaway Bay; daughters Connie Cantrell and husband Scott of Bridgeport, Rhonda Gilliland of Watauga, Texas, and Christa Womack of Paradise, Texas; step-daughters Diahanna Short and Janet McLain; sister Mildred Cauthen of Decatur; sisters-in-law Margie Loyd and Renna Grundy, both of Decatur; grandchildren Courtney Rainwater, Ernie Cantrell, Samatha Reed, Skylor Womack; great-grandchildren Senior Airman Chandler Hughes, Garrett Darden, Emma Cantrell, Addison Cantrell, Ella Darden, Raylee Cantrell, Owen Green, Lucas Reed, Hudson Rainwater, and two more great-grandchildren expected in 2020; great-great-grandchild Dorian Hughes; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Myrtle Loyd; brothers Gene Grundy, Virgil Loyd, Jr., and J.T. Loyd; sisters Melba Schroeder, Mary Lou McCandless, Martha Lindsey, and Kay Davis.
